Crash Causes Texas Highway to Be Covered in Smashed Watermelons

There’s no point crying over spilled watermelons. A truck driving on a Texas highway caused hundreds of watermelons to spill into the roadway after a crash.

The incident occurred on October 24, 2023, at around 3:51 a.m. An 18-wheeler carrying watermelons crashed into the pillar in the northbound lanes of Interstate 69, near University Boulevard, in Sugar Land, Texas.

The crash caused the truck’s trailer to break open and cover the roadway with smashed watermelons. According to the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal, who posted on X, formally known as Twitter, about the incident, multiple lanes were closed for about six hours while crews worked to clean up the fruit and spilled fuel.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and crews were able to clean up the mess in a timely manner.
