“Find My iPhone” Glitch Sends Residents to Texas Man’s Home

When there’s a glitch in certain products, more than one person can apparently be affected. A man in Texas said that a glitch in the “Find My iPhone” app has been sending people to knock on his door hoping to find their Apple products.

Scott Schuster’s address was mistakenly added to the “Find My iPhone” app, which has sent several people to knock on his Richmond, Texas, door at all hours of the night. Luckily, Schuster has a doorbell camera, which has captured some of his interactions.

One woman threatened to call the police because she believed someone at the home stole her lost phone. “Well, the cops are on the way, so you may want to talk to me before they come here,” she said in the video.

Schuster is adamant that he has never stolen any iPhone, Air Pods or any other Apple products. “I have to wake up and go open the door and explain to them that I don’t have their device and people don’t tend to believe you,” Schuster said.

The Texas resident isn’t sure exactly why the “Find My iPhone” app is pinging his address and with two young children, he’s worried for his family’s safety.

“There’s plenty of irrational people in the world that if they are angry, if they’re drunk, if they have had a rough night and they lost their phone and thought it was stolen,” Schuster said. “That’s my biggest concern. Someone coming to the house potentially with a weapon.”

Schuster has called Apple Support, messaged them, and filed a report since this issue began but nothing has ever been resolved. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has now gotten involved with the office saying it’s checking into whether there is anything they can do about this issue.
