Kentucky Man Finds 700 Gold Coins Buried on Farm

Finding buried treasure is a pretty epic score. A Kentucky man recently uncovered 700 gold coins buried on his farm that are estimated to be worth around $2 million.

In June 2023, a man found over 700 rare gold coins from the Civil War era in a field on his farm. The loot included U.S. gold dollars, gold Liberty coins and a 2.5-dollar coin with the Statue of Liberty’s face on it. Some $10 and $20 coins were also discovered.

The over 700 rare gold coins are said to be worth a whopping $2 million. Not bad for finding this haul in your backyard.

The coins are currently for sale at govmint.com under the collection called “The Great Kentucky Hoard.” This collection is comprised of coins that date to between 1840-63. Experts said that people used to bury their money during the Civil War, which is probably why this Kentucky man discovered them in the ground on his propery.

The man wants to remain anonymous but he’s sure to walk away with a hefty pay check.
