KFC Introduces Blue Mint Chocolate-Flavored Dip

With the increase in viral food trends online, it’s no surprise that fast food companies now want in the mix. KFC Korea is introducing their own fun and unique take to the space: blue mint chocolate-flavored dip for their signature recipe chicken.

This bizarre new dip has people raising their eyes for both the unusual color and flavor. It’s not every day you wake up and think of having a side of blue mint chocolate with your fried chicken.

Currently, South Korea is experiencing a mint chocolate craze with companies eagerly taking advantage of it. Major companies in South Korea like Starbucks Korea, Haitai Confectionery and Foods, or Orion have all introduced mint chocolate-flavored items to their menus. KFC is now the latest to enter the ring with their light blue mint chocolate dip.

So far, the unusual dip has been a smash on social media. Several people have been talking about the dip that’s part of a seasonal collaboration with local food delivery app Baemin. The mint dip is only available in KFC branches across South Korea until August 8.

Surprisingly, the dip doesn’t actually taste like toothpaste, which is what a lot of mint-flavored sweets tend to do. Instead, it has a rich, sweet chocolate taste complemented by fresh mint. KFC describes the blue dip as a combination of the “refreshing taste of dark sweet chocolate and mint.”

Even if you’re not a fan of minty foods, KFC claims their newest creation is worth it just to try. “We hope people can have a brand new KFC experience with the Baemin mint chocolate set menus which consist of KFC’s popular chicken and burgers,” a KFC South Korea official said.

The dip is priced at 900 Korean won or $0.70 per tub and is available as part of various combo meals. It definitely seems like a fun food to try and to maybe snap an Instagram photo or two.
