License Plate Sells for Record $15 Million in UAE

There are some license plates out there that are worth more than you would think. During a charity auction in the United Arab Emirates, the “P7” license plate sold for a record-breaking $15 million.

The Most Noble Numbers auction in Dubai offers rare and highly sought-after license plates and phone numbers, including the “P7” plate that went for a hefty price tag. The charity auction was held to support the 1 Billion Meal Endowment Campaign, which aims to provide a food safety net for the world’s most underprivileged populations.

The biggest sale of the day came when the “P7” plate sold for a whopping $14,975,356. This price broke the previous Guinness World Record for the most expensive car license plate, which was set at $14,200,000 for license plate “1” at an Abu Dhabi auction back in 2008.

Pavel Valeryevich Durov, the French-Emirati businessman who founded the Telegram app, was the lucky man that set the winning bid at the auction. Other plates up for auction also included “AA 19,” “O71” and “Q 22222.”
