Los Angeles Troll Apartment Sells $180,000 Over Asking Price

Who would’ve thought a house nicknamed as a “Troll Apartment” would be sold $180,000 over its asking price? A California home famously known as the “Troll Apartment” sold for $430,000, and it’s well over the $250,000 asking price.

The magic behind the high demand may have been the peculiar title used to describe the unique position of the house. The home was built in 1949 and its situated under the road and over the arch of a bridge with views of a drainage ditch.

The listing for the Alhambra house went viral, piquing the interest of prospective buyers. According to listing agent Douglas Lee, an intense bidding war drastically raised the selling price to $430,000.

“It’s definitely the most unique listing I’ve ever had in my entire residential real estate career,” Lee said.

Lee said the previous owner bought the house in 2005 hoping to transform it into a getaway but ended up using the property for storage.

The house comes with a rooftop patio that’s located at street level and it’s almost the size of the house. A drainage ditch might be the ideal sight for quirky homeowners and the bizarre listing has been a hit with its target audience.

“There’s a lot of just unique interest,” Lee said. “And instead of it being off-putting to people, it’s actually come off as very unique and cool.”
