Make Yourself at Home

Finding the right tradesperson can be a difficult task. Sometimes, they can abuse their power like this instance that was documented by a woman online.

Apparently, an electrician that was hired to work on a woman’s house quoted her a day rate of eight days’ work but has been caught on CCTV footage inviting people over while she’s not there. Halfway through the job, she’s now asking if she should confront him about the situation.

“I checked my security footage this week and noticed a woman popped round to my house when I was out and a tradesperson was working alone in my house. I can only see her walk past my front door to the back garden gate, she knocks and then the feed ends. She’s seen leaving four hours later. The next day, same thing, except three hours,” the woman wrote online.

She added: “At present, the tradesperson gets here for about 8 a.m. and has already stopped working by 3 p.m. So that’s seven hours of work, fair enough, but four (and three) of them an unknown woman here is (it’s not his wife, I did a little social media digging and it’s not her).”

With some potential drama added to the mix, obviously, this seems like an uncomfortable situation to be in. The woman is now wondering whether she should just ask him to hand over his key and get somebody else in to finish the job.

A number of users shared their concerns and added who they thought the unexpected visitor might actually be. One person wrote: “Maybe it’s his side bit and he’s having sex with her while you’re out. It happens. A friend of mine was meeting with a tradesman and in the evening they would go to the house he was working on as it was empty and he had a set of keys.”

Another commented: “A few years ago I was going out with an electrician and we used to have sex where he was working because we both lived at home with our parents. All his other mates in trade did it too. Makes me cringe now but was exciting at the time. If that’s not what’s happening I’ll be very shocked.”
