Man Robs Starbucks After Wife Was Denied Refund

Getting a refund on an incorrect order is something most companies will do to make the customer happy. Apparently, an Oklahoma Starbucks didn’t get the memo and caused a commotion after they refused to give a woman a refund on her drink. Little did they know what was in store for them.

The incident all started when a woman purchased a drink from a Starbucks location in Oklahoma City but asked for a refund after she was unhappy with what they made for her. She showed up a few days later asking for a refund again but was denied a second time.

The woman’s husband, Richard Engle, was then sent in and demanded his wife be reimbursed for the botched beverage. He too was turned away by the barista as he didn’t have a receipt or proof of purchase.

To get his revenge, Engle allegedly took off with the store’s tip jar containing a whopping $1.32. “It was over the weekend when police responded to a local coffee shop regarding a person who had stolen money (from) a tip jar,” Oklahoma City Police Department Master Sergeant Gary Knight said.

“When they refused again, the clerk turned her back, and that’s when he reached into their tip jar and stole money and then tried to flee the scene.”

The barista followed him out of the store and tried to block him from leaving while taking a photo of his licence plate. Engle proceeded to bump the barista a couple of times with his car before speeding away.

Police found the suspect shortly after the incident at his home in Harrah, Oklahoma. Engle was placed under arrest and faces charges of robbery and assault.
