Mystery Light in Sky Revealed as “Victory Beam”

When a mysterious light shows up in the sky at night, many people’s first thought is that it must be aliens. That wasn’t the case when a strange purple light lit up the California sky.

Several people in Sacramento, California, posted online about a purple light in the sky on Halloween night. Some speculated that the illumination was from something out of this world but were left disappointed by the actual result.

Instead, the violet glow turned out to be part of a victory celebration for the city’s NBA team, the Sacramento Kings. A representative for the team said the light was the team’s “Victory Beam,” celebrating the team’s win over the Charlotte Hornets by a score of 115-108.

The game had been played in Charlotte, North Carolina, but to make all the Kings fans feel seen, the team celebrated by projecting the vertical beam of light into the sky over the city. The purple hue comes from the team’s purple and silver color scheme.

It’s unclear whether the team will continue with this celebration for the rest of the season. Perhaps unleashing the new victory celebration on a night that isn’t Halloween will drive down the extraterrestrial conclusions.
