Mystery Odor Reported in Kansas

A stinky smell can be the most offputting thing in the entire world, especially if it chooses to linger. Officials in Kansas are investigating a mysterious odor that was reported in various areas of the city of Wichita.

Residents living in the areas of College Hill, Eastborough and Derby, Wichita, Kansas, reported an odor that could be compared to gas, burning rubber, asphalt or even a car engine. After the initial investigation, city officials said the smell is not believed to be dangerous.

The City of Wichita- Government posted on Facebook about the several “what’s that smell” inquiries they received, poking fun at the stinky situation.

“The City’s air quality today is rated as ‘good’ at 30 ppm. We are unaware of what is causing the smell, but it is not currently having an impact on the city’s air quality rating. We’ll keep you updated if we discover the smell origination,” officials wrote.
