NASA’s Solar Team Spot the Sun With a Smile

You know when you dress up the kids for picture day at school and they flash wide goofy smiles at the photographer. The Sun might be following the kid’s footsteps by displaying a wide grin for NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory.

NASA Sun, Space & Scream shared the photo on Twitter with the caption: “Say cheese! Today, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory caught the Sun “smiling.” Seen in ultraviolet light, these dark patches on the Sun are known as coronal holes and are regions where fast solar wind gushes out into space.”

Who said cartoons aren’t real? Our childhood cartoons may be coming to life as several Twitter users drew a reference to the Teletubbies Sun face.

While another wrote, “Sun God King looks high.” Hopefully those heightened moments of ecstasy rub off onto Planet Earth.

A different user added: “What a ‘warm smile’…”. Warm or evil smile? As another chimed with a meme that read: “I like to watch the world burn.”

We can give the sun the benefit of doubt and conclude that its joyful rays of sunshine will spread positivity, not destruction.
