Superheroes Arrest Drug Dealers in Peru

The good guys take on the bad guys. We see this story play out in the popular Marvel series. What if superheroes jumped out of the screens and into our lives? In Peru, the masked heroes stopped catching the actors and started running after the real criminals.

An undercover operation titled “Marvel” was masked as an advertisement for a Halloween concert. Slipping into the dangerous area of the capital Lima required an unusual attire that won’t alert the criminals. Police officers dressed as Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America and Black Widow barged through the doors to save the day.

The men swapped their uniforms to raid a house and catch the suspected drug dealers. There is nothing alarming about the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and his sidekicks.

While people didn’t suspect anything unusual about the costumes, the team of four broke down a steel door and gained entry into the property. In the house, police discovered 3,250 small packages containing cocaine paste and 287 bags of cocaine, as well as 127 bags of marijuana. According to reports, a kilogram of cocaine paste can sell for around $380 in Peru and cocaine hydrochloride has a market value of $1,000.

Ten other police officers entered the building and made four arrests, taking three men and a woman into custody.

The superheroes did save the day as they stopped the drugs from being sold to the local community. Police Colonel David Villanueva said: “In this building an entire family was dedicating themselves to the micro-commercialization of drugs. The drugs were going to be sold in a park nearby.”
