Venice Gondola Capsizes After Tourists Won’t Stop Taking Selfies

Tourists can be a rather irritating bunch, especially when they don’t listen to those living in the area. A group of tourists fell into a Venice canal when the gondola they were traveling in capsized after they refused to sit down while taking selfies.

The gondolier had been attempting a tricky manoeuvre to navigate the vessel under a bridge near St Mark’s Square when the group of tourists from China attempted to take selfies standing up. The gondolier’s move under the bridge required the maximum balance of weight on board but the passengers ignored his orders to sit down.

Naturally, this didn’t end well as the boat ended up tipping over, dumping the group into the cold and murky water. A video of the incident was captured and posted on X by Italian newscast Tg1, which shows the tourists screaming for help as the gondolier scrambles to rescue his passengers for their mistake.

Fortunately, the group was rescued and provided with “hospitality and warmth” in the nearby La Fenice theatre.
