When moving into a new home, many questions are left up in the air. What’s mostly unclear is how difficult your new neighbors will be. Some can be super loud, others can have aggressive behavior and then there are ones who will actually steal your belongings.
One woman known as Lia took to TikTok to share when she caught her neighbor red-handed. The video showed Lia in her own backyard before she panned to point out her two new chairs in her neighbor’s backyard.
Lia further explained that she bought an entire set of outdoor furniture to find out that a pair of chairs went missing. “My neighbours have stolen my garden furniture,” she said. “So I bought a set of four, there’s two there [in her garden] and I can literally see the other two in their garden.”
While filming the video, she noticed the neighbor was in their backyard and decided to confront them about the missing furniture. “Excuse me mate, hiya, I noticed that my garden furniture is there, can I have it back? I think someone from your house keeps stealing my garden furniture,” she said.
A man comes into the camera frame and begins to hand Lia her furniture back over the fence. Although she offered some other furniture that came with her house, the man declined the offer. It seems like the neighbor didn’t exactly know where the chairs came from either or so he claimed. “I woke up one morning and they were outside and I was shocked myself,” he said.
People online were shocked by the cordial exchange, especially when simple situations can get heated. One person wrote: “This is very unexpected that they just handed it back, people who take things are not normally as accommodating as this, so brilliant with no arguments.”
Another commented: “That was the nicest exchange, put a camera up.”
