World’s Most Expensive Sandwich Makes a Return

While most enjoy foods that ignite their tastebuds, others get more excitement out of the cost of the meal. A New York restaurant famous for its expensive dishes has announced its plans to bring back its $214 grilled cheese for a limited time.

Serendipity 3 announced on Instagram that the Quintessential Grilled Cheese, dubbed the world’s most expensive sandwich by Guinness World Records, will be making a return to the menu for a limited time today, on National Grilled Cheese Day.

The $214 grilled cheese made its debut in 2014 and was given the title of the world’s most expensive sandwich by Guinness World Records. The sandwich is very luxurious and even has to be ordered 48 hours in advance.

The Quintessential Grilled Cheese is crafted using French pullman champagne bread, which is made with Dom Perignon Champagne. The bread is then covered in grass-fed white truffle butter before being filled with slices of Caciocavallo Podolico cheese.

To make things even more delectable, the sandwich is toasted until golden and the edges are gilded in 23-karat edible gold. The meal is also served with a side of South African Lobster Tomato Bisque to top things off.
